I handle exclusively the defense of criminal cases, both before charges are filed, during the investigation phase, as well as afterwards as your case proceeds through the criminal justice system in Oregon State and Federal Courts. My goal is to determine how you want to handle your case, to minimize the damage a criminal charge can have on your life, to provide you the information you need to make informed decisions, and then do everything I can to help you achieve those goals.

I limit the number of clients I represent at an
y one time so you have my full attention in fighting the charges against you. The legal system can be overwhelming and intimidating. You can count on me to explain the process to you and work closely with you to present the best possible defense to criminal charges.

I am dedicated to defending the rights of people accused of criminal offenses at every stage of the proceedings, beginning with the initial accusation, police contact, or criminal charges. From the moment I am retained as your lawyer, my legal investigator and I begin preparing for your defense. I think having your lawyer intimately involved with the investigation, traveling to the scene, and interviewing witnesses is critical to defend your case. How else can an attorney effectively and persuasively argue your case to a judge, prosecutor, or ultimately to the jury?

We carefully check every aspect of the criminal charges and the state's proof against you. We begin the investigation as soon as possible after learning of possible charges so we can uncover any helpful evidence the state may miss or ignore, which may be key to your case. Cases must be thoroughly defended at every stage of the proceedings, beginning with police interrogations, discovery, preliminary hearings, and culminating in motions and possibly in a jury trial.

I primarily defend cases where clients are charged with major felonies (such as vehicular assault, manslaughter, murder, robbery, burglarly, rape), violent felonies, or crimes in Federal Court, including drugs, financial crimes and fraud, white collar crime, complex cases, and conspiracies.
