OUR APPROACH
I
am dedicated to defending the rights of people accused of criminal offenses
at every stage of the proceedings, beginning with the initial accusation,
police contact, or criminal charges. From the moment I am retained as
your lawyer, my legal investigator and I begin preparing for your defense.
I think having your lawyer intimately involved with the investigation,
traveling to the scene, and interviewing witnesses is critical to defend
your case. How else can an attorney effectively and persuasively argue
your case to a judge, prosecutor, or ultimately to the jury?
We carefully check every aspect of the criminal charges and the state's
proof against you. We begin the investigation as soon as possible after
learning of possible charges so we can uncover any helpful evidence the
state may miss or ignore, which may be key to your case. Cases must be
thoroughly defended at every stage of the proceedings, beginning with
police interrogations, discovery, preliminary hearings, and culminating
in motions and possibly trial.
I keep abreast of current legal developments in criminal law so that I
can draft persuasive motions to suppress evidence and other pre-trial
motions. I attend numerous trainings, both put on by defense lawyers as
well as police departments. For instance, I am certified in the police
interrogation technique, The Reid Technique. We locate and hire the best
experts to assist in the preparation of your case and to best explain
technical or counterintuitive facts to the jury.
Every client has the right to know all their options and make informed,
reasoned decisions that advance their goals. Not every client will have
a case that they will want to try to a jury. By preparing every case for
trial, we are in a stronger position minimize the damage a criminal case
will have on the client's life by negotiating from a position of strength.
I am a skilled negotiator but I am prepared to go to trial and vigorously
defend you when that is in your best interest.
